So, in case you couldn’t tell…my penname is Avyd Seeker. Avyd Seeker — as in one who avidly, enthusiastically searches for truth, appreciating every step taken along this amazing journey.
My search for spiritual truth started when I was about 12 years-old or so, and I asked a church member a very simple question. I asked, “If you say Jesus is the son of God, and we are also God’s children, then, are we like Jesus?” It made sense to me, the way they were explaining it; however, no one explicitly stated it. I was told that my statement was wrong and by the look on the church member’s face I got the impression that I better not ask anymore of those kinds of questions in that place.
Fast forward to my mid-20s and I found myself practicing Nichiren Daishonin’s Buddhism here in Atlanta, GA. My spirit is most closely aligned with Buddhist principles. After several months of chanting I found myself having difficulties reconciling my belief in a God “out there” with this sect of Buddhism’s belief that there is no God “out there,” but that God — if there is one — exists within. At the time I just didn’t get it. So I left, and went back to church to get an answer.
The answer I received at church was that Christianity wasn’t for me. I may have been ambivalent about Buddhism, but Christianity was definitely not the way my spirit wanted to go. So I stopped seeking a sense of spirituality outside myself. I allowed truth to find me wherever I was in my journey, and I remained open-minded and open-hearted, realizing that the truth-seeking journey is expansive and evolutionary.
Today I find myself interested in many wonderful things within our lovely universe. I’m interested in astrology and numerology, universal laws, Hindu and Buddhist principles, the Christ consciousness, science, metaphysics, politics, holistic health, personal development, neuroscience, self-education, activism and a slew of other things I simply cannot cover in this blog section. I’m also interested in people, too, and believe that human beings have the potential to accomplish anything we dream through positive and disciplined thinking. In addition, I like to help others, and hope some of my blog topics can achieve this goal.
I have a beautiful daughter who is growing up to be just a lovely young lady right before my eyes. She’s very, very intelligent, she’s an athlete (plays basketball), ambitious, charitable, responsible, and an all-around delight to guide along this Earth experience. She’s gorgeous, too! She’s my angel…
I like to dance, I actually love to dance, and love to dance in public places with someone who’s not afraid to get all sweaty and funky with me on the dance floor. I’ve taken a liking to house and electronic jazz music, and some of my favorite artists include The Boomclap Bachelors, Bonobo, Jazzanova and Benoit and Sergio. I also enjoy hiking, cycling, power-walking and spending time in nature.
I invite others to join me on my spiritual walk to a life of total wellness. I define total wellness as spiritual, physical, mental, emotional, financial, and relational health and well-being. It is my goal to be successful in all of these areas of my life. I have a loooooong way to go, which means that adventures and journeys are sure to be awesomely amazing!
Thanks for accompanying me along my blissful adventures!
